Westminster City School is a successful 11-18 boys’ Christian non-denominational comprehensive academy with a mixed sixth form. Ours is a lively and vibrant learning community situated in the heart of central London with all the challenges and advantages of an inner city school. The school was judged as ‘Good’ by OFSTED in 2013 with an outstanding curriculum and governance; we expect to be an outstanding school when next inspected. The rapid improvement seen in English in recent years has been a major factor in improving the school’s overall performance.

We are seeking to recruit an outstanding Subject Leader for English to lead this successful department. You will be an outstanding English teacher with a proven track record of raising attainment. You will be an aspiring middle leader with the ability to lead colleagues at KS4 and to provide support for the subject leader.

The English department is a well-resourced and well-staffed team with a track record of excellent outcomes. The department is privileged to have experienced and inspirational teachers as well as experienced Key Stage Leads. Alongside this, the department facilitates extra support for students in the form of English Intervention Partners who deliver tailored intervention from GCSE exam practice to Latin for Literacy. 

We believe in developing our staff and have a dynamic and supportive management team and an effective CPD programme, which includes a regular teaching and learning forum.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will need to undertake a criminal record check via the DBS.
