We are looking for a creative, dynamic and highly motivated English specialist with a proven track record of results across both Key Stage 3 and 4. Someone who can bring with them ideas, energy and enthusiasm and who is committed to raising attainment. The successful candidate will be an innovative and enthusiastic teacher with drive and determination who will support the Head of Department and take on leadership responsibility. 

 Principal Responsibilities:

·        To support curriculum development.

·        To raise levels of student achievement.

·        To monitor, evaluate, track and review student progress.

·        To develop promotion of English across the school.

An £8.5million refurbishment was completed in the summer of 2014, resulting in an excellent learning environment offering state of the art facilities. There is also a floodlit, FA standard, 3G multi purpose sports facility on site which will support both the development of school and community sport. Situated only 8 miles to the east of Durham City the school is well located for access to the A19 and A1(M). It is also within comfortable driving distance of affordable housing and areas of outstanding natural beauty. We benefit from a Beacon Nursery in the village.

Wellfield School is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school without sixth form situated in Wingate, County Durham. It is a community state school that provides 1,200 places for students between the ages of 11 and 16 when fully subscribed.  Wellfield School is part of New College Durham Academies Trust.
