The Headmaster is seeking to appoint two dynamic and dedicated Assistant Upper Masters (‘Extension & Progress’ and ‘Universities’). These crucial roles will support the Upper Master as Abingdon’s Sixth Form moves into a new and exciting era with the opening of our new Sixth Form Centre in September 2018.
The Assistant Upper Master (Extension & Progress) will be chiefly responsible for overseeing the School’s approach to academic challenge in the Sixth Form, with a specific focus on provision for boys aiming for places at the most competitive universities. S/he will also have a wider remit related to the overall tracking progress of boys in the Sixth Form and coordinating interventions as necessary.
The Assistant Upper Master (Universities) will take overall responsibility for the UCAS process in the Sixth Form, supported by a team of people including the Sixth Form tutors and others in the Sixth Form team (e.g. a UCAS assistant and the Overseas Applications Advisor)
Contributions to extra-curricular activities are expected from all members of the Common Room and most assume a pastoral role within the school in addition to their teaching duties. The School offers several attractive benefits. Accommodation may be available.
Closing date: Monday 19 March 2018 (midday)
Interview date: w/c 26 March 2018
