Aldar Academies are currently seeking an inspirational school leader to be our new Assistant Vice Principal – Curriculum and Assessment at Al Mamoura Academy in Abu Dhabi commencing September 2019, or earlier by negotiation.
Al Mamoura Academy is a mixed gender primary school and a girls only secondary school co-located in a brand new, state of the art building in the heart of Abu Dhabi. Al Mamoura Academy is a successful school founded on the firm foundations of Al Mushrif School, graded ‘Outstanding’ by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge. The successful candidate will combine an excellent track record of successful leadership experience, developed in the UK or internationally, with strong inter-personal skills and cultural awareness with the ability to inspire the Al Mamoura community and manage the demands and needs of all stakeholders. Exceptional communication skills combined with being a visible leader and ambassador for the school are central to this role. The role requires strategic thinking with a firm grasp of how to ensure outstanding teaching and learning across all phases of the school. Candidates must be committed to working in partnership with the local community and developing ways to engage with parents and forge effective partnerships with them.

1. Academy Ethos
1.1 To fully support the Academy’s vision and values;
1.2 To ensure that Al Mamoura Academy and Aldar Education is always presented positively within and beyond the academy;
1.3 To carry out any duties as reasonably directed by the Principal;
1.4 To participate in the Academy’s policy of performance management and demonstrate a commitment to your own professional development;
1.5 To support the academy targets relating to behaviour and attendance;
1.6 To rigorously adhere to the Academy’s safeguarding procedures.
2.1 To regularly review the Academy’s curriculum provision to ensure it meets the changing needs of the students and UAE compliance requirements;
2.2 To compile the timetable and planning of teaching groups, including deployment of staff;
2.3 To plan and allocate resources designed to facilitate the planned curriculum, including advising the Principal on current/anticipated needs for staff and other resources;
2.4 To plan and coordinate the whole school approach to home learning;
2.5 To provide guidance and support to Departments in implementing Schemes of Learning related to the National Curriculum and exam specifications.
3. Student Assessment
3.1 To support the Principal in the Academy target setting process;
3.2 To monitor student progress across the academy, including identified groups;
3.3 To oversee and support appropriate intervention programmes;
3.4 To be confident in the use of internal and external data management systems;
3.5 To lead on Assessment, Recording and Reporting;
3.6 To hold middle leaders to account for the achievement of students in their subject areas.
4. Leadership and Management
4.1 To be a member of the Senior Leadership Team and other staff teams as appropriate;
4.2 To contribute to the development of policy and planning for the academy and to monitor the implementation of relevant policies;
4.3 To develop and present an accurate and coherent account of the academy’s performance to a range of audiences including governors and parents;
4.4 To support heads of department with self-evaluation and department plans;
4.5 To appropriately manage any relevant budgets allocated to the Assistant Vice Principal;
4.6 To assist the Principal in shaping the direction of the academy and setting high expectations at all times;
4.7 To promote teamwork and motivate staff to ensure effective working relations;
4.8 To be included in duty rotas;
4.9 To liaise with senior colleagues at Aldar Education to support the strategic development of the academy.
- BA in Education or BA Degree with PGCE is essential
- Ability to establish positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders
- A good knowledge of primary pedagogy and the English National Curriculum
