Horizons Specialist Academy Trust consists of three academies across Stockton-on-Tees serving a population of approximately 400 students aged 5 to 19 with a broad range of learning difficulties.

Green Gates Academy is situated in Stockton and provides for 40 pupils aged 5 to 11 years who have SEMHD, as well as other learning difficulties and in addition has a link to a 15 place residential unit at Westlands Academy.

The Academy Trust seeks to recruit an experienced and inspirational leader to join their team at Green Gates Academy. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Assistant Vice Principal to join an experienced and successful team who are committed to high standards in promoting the education and welfare of young people with SEMHD.

In addition to supporting the Principal and Vice Principal in the management and leadership of the Academy, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management and leadership of the English & Maths curriculum, providing a clear strategic direction for the development of the subject in order to promote the attainment and achievement of all students. The AVP will take a role in preparing and implementing the Curriculum Improvement Plan and take specific responsibility for the monitoring of standards and the maintenance of quality assurance within English and Maths

Successful candidates will:

  • Have experience of working with students with special educational needs, in particular SEMHD and associated learning difficulties.
  • Be an outstanding and experienced practitioner across both key stages
  • Provide effective leadership in raising standards of attainment and achievement.
  • Work collegiately to build on the strengths of the Academy and Trust.
