We are offering an exceptional opportunity for a talented and inspirational member of staff to join an ambitious team who are focused on securing outstanding provision for our students. This post would suit an enthusiastic colleague who is an outstanding Teacher of English and wants to be on a Senior Leadership Team as an Associate Assistant Headteacher.

Wednesfield High Specialist Engineering Academy is situated in the north-east area of Wolverhampton. There are approximately 850 students attending the academy including100 in our Sixth Form. This is an extremely exciting time to join us on our journey to becoming an outstanding academy. We are an academy that is growing in numbers and has been oversubscribed for the past two years. We are currently launching our new University of Wolverhampton Multi-Academy Trust Sixth Form, merging two of the most successful Sixth Forms for student progress within the city of Wolverhampton and operating out of two campuses to create‘Learners Today, Leaders Tomorrow’. We are extremely proud that the academic progress our A Level students made in 2019 was the highest in the city.

We have close links with the University of Wolverhampton who are our Academy Sponsor, bringing a range of professional learning opportunities which are funded as a benefit of employment. The successful candidate would have the chance to work with Trust Academies and a University. Full support and mentoring will be in place to support the successful candidate in their own career development.

We have a committed, talented team of staff who work exceptionally hard to ensure the success and enjoyment of students. We are an academy where people want to work and stay to further their career. We offer 15% PPA in order to give our staff more time to plan inspirational lessons that will enthuse our students and lead them to make progress in their learning.

We are seeking to appoint a talented, energetic and inspirational Associate Assistant Headteacher who will lead our Communications Faculty (English, MFL and Performing Arts).

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a secure understanding of how to raise attainment levels for all our students and support them in making progress to achieve excellent outcomes. The candidate must be able to show ways of improving attitudes to learning within an education setting. The post would suit a talented Teacher of English.

The ability to inspire children through English is essential.

Skills and Experience

  • A relevant degree and QTS
  • Previous experience of teaching English at KS3, 4 and 5
  • Experience of strategies / interventions to ensure students make outstanding progress
