Are you a successful Head of English or Second in English who is looking for that next step? Hylands is looking for a tenacious and dynamic professional who is ready to develop their leadership skills as part of a Senior Leadership Team whilst leading our English team.

This is a new role for our school as we are prioritising our sustainable leadership model. As an associate Assistant Headteacher, you will be someone passionate about their subject and ensuring rapid improvement and excited about school improvement. You will be afforded the time to develop both your subject team and an area of focus from our school development plan.

This role is ideally suited to candidates who are looking to elevate themselves, their experience and pave their road to Headship.

As Associate Assistant Headteacher, you will also be responsible for at least one whole school priority as identified in our School Development Plan, having the chance to lead and support colleagues across the school. This will depend on your existing skills and experience and you should outline in your application whether this is in in the area of ‘Personal Development’, ‘Quality of Curriculum’ or ‘Behaviour and Safeguarding’, giving specific examples of projects/initiatives you have undertaken in your current role and the impact you have had.

Being a member of the Hylands family is so much more than curriculum delivery. The strong,

supportive relationships you build with our young people is at the core of what will enable

them to thrive. With the support of our extensive wellbeing team, all of our staff are

instrumental in driving forwards Hylands' rapid school improvement journey, supporting our

young people to succeed both personally and academically.

We are relentless in our mission to ensure that our school is the outstanding school our students deserve and we are therefore seeking the right person to work with the leadership team in formulating the aims and objectives of the school, establishing the policies through which they shall be achieved, managing staff and resources in order to achieve them and monitoring progress towards them.

If you feel this position is of interest to you, we would encourage you to apply as soon as possible. If you would like an informal discussion about this exciting opportunity please contact Sonja Mitchell at: sonja.mitchell@hylands-tkat.org and request an informal conversation or school visit.

In return for your commitment we offer:

  • A strong wellbeing package
  • Access to outstanding CPD within the school and across the Trust
  • Clear career progression routes

We look forward to welcoming your application to join us on this incredible journey.

We are part of TKAT, a charitable trust that is inspiring learners and changing lives across 45 schools in the South and East of England.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and their achievements both inside and outside school. The post requires enhanced DBS clearance, medical checks and satisfactory references.

The school is committed to equality of opportunity. We welcome applications from all suitable candidates, regardless of any protected characteristic for example race, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age.
