The role:

The role of HoD is suitable for a highly effective secondary teacher of Maths or current Head of Department looking for a new challenge. You will be able to evidence recent training and experience of mentoring/coaching ITT/RQTs.

The role of AAHT is suitable for a successful current Head of Maths or for a strong Maths practitioner with current/recent senior leadership experience and who can evidence their positive impact on school improvement.

As Head of Maths, your primary role will be to lead and support the Maths team to improve outcomes for pupils across all phases, working closely with our Primary Phase Maths leader to ensure a well sequenced through-school curriculum which supports progression. You will support colleagues in delivering highly effective Maths lessons at KS3 and 4 which inspire and motivate pupils to learn well and achieve their potential and be an excellent Maths practitioner with knowledge and experience of teaching for mastery.

As Associate Assistant Headteacher, in additional to the role outlined above, you will also be responsible for at least one whole school priority as identified in our School Development Plan, having the chance to lead and support colleagues across the school. This will depend on your existing skills and experience and you should outline in your application whether this is in in the area of ‘Personal Development’, ‘Quality of Curriculum’ or ‘Behaviour and Safeguarding’, giving specific examples of projects/initiatives you have undertaken in your current role and the impact you have had.

In either role, you will be passionate about teaching and learning, and have a proven track record of delivering highly engaging and effective Maths lessons securing strong outcomes of your own and leading others in doing so.

If successful, you will be teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4 (currently, the department uses GCSE Pearson Edexcel specification) and you will work closely with the maths primary phase leader to support both the secondary and primary phase subject teachers to drive up standards. The Maths team are committed to continuous professional development and to securing the best possible outcomes for our pupils. They work closely with the South Yorkshire Hub of the NCETM and are participating in the programme ‘Teaching for Mastery’: they are in the third year of this journey. Curriculum content and sequencing is well planned and next steps are focused on the effective implementation of planning in lessons. This will be your primary area of focus if you are successful in your application.

The School:

Holy Trinity is a 3 – 16 Catholic and Church of England through-school; the only one of its kind in the country. We have a 420-place primary phase and have expanded to a 730-place secondary phase this year. Our 3 – 16 through-school status offers exciting and innovative learning opportunities which enhance progress and create a seamless transition between Key Stages 2 and 3. Our Catholic and Church of England values form our distinctive Christian ethos, and this guides and supports everything we do in school. At Holy Trinity, the leadership team, staff and governors are completely focused on nurturing each individual in order that they reach their full potential. We are determined to raise standards for our pupils and to develop independent, aspiring and caring young people.

Our students are challenged to be aspirational for themselves and are nurtured to develop a growth mindset. Strong relationships underpin our cohesive and forward-looking community. Staff and pupils are proud to be part of our school. Our recent Ofsted report acknowledges that we are an “inclusive and welcoming school”.

o  Do you have a proven track record of securing string outcomes for your own pupils?

o  Do you have the passion, enthusiasm, drive and ability to lead others?
