Salary: £24.64 per hour plus excellent benefits
We have an opportunity to join the computer science/maths team in the Faculty of Maths and Science. The faculty was awarded grade 1 in the Ofsted inspection in 2014 and is internally assessed as grade 1. We deliver a range of maths and science courses at levels two and three and boast excellent value added and success rates. We deliver AS and A levels in maths, further maths, biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, geology and environmental science. The faculty also delivers a Core Maths qualification and GCSE maths across the college. We also deliver Access to HE and BTEC Applied Science, as well as relevant elements of the IB. This role is particularly to teach Computer Science, although contributing to other courses, particularly maths is also possible. The faculty is based in new purpose-built facilities in the Maths and Science Centre with a purpose-build computer suite, and due to growth we are due to gain a second computing room.
The Computer Science team is experienced, supportive and has a strong commitment to sharing ideas and resources. You will be supported by the existing programme leader for computer science (also the deputy head of faculty) and work alongside another experienced lecturer (also the cross-college lead for foundation maths). You will also have a mentor and a faculty-based Learning Lead.
We are seeking to appoint the candidate with the greatest ability, enthusiasm and commitment to excellence in the classroom. This role would be ideal for someone looking for regular part-time work and potentially also for someone seeking to establish themselves at the college. With a strong level of support available, this could suit you no matter what your level of teaching experience. If you fit the bill and teach computer science, your application will be welcome!
Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure by the DBS.
We do not accept CV’s, no agencies please.
