Job overview

Are you a qualified counsellor with an interest in teaching?

We are looking for an Associate Lecturer to join the Counselling department within the Faculty of Professional and Adult Learning at Exeter College.

This is an opportunity to join an exceptional team of experienced professionals who are committed to enabling all students to become competent listeners, confident in their ability to practice counselling safely and ethically, with an openness to using and developing their skills beyond their taught course. This may be at introductory level, for use in an existing role, or as a fully qualified and experienced counsellor.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified counsellor with experience or interest in teaching, and a confident communicator who enjoys working as part of a team. Those without formal teaching qualifications may still apply as we offer comprehensive training to all our staff.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to co-teach both the NCFE Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills (9am to 5pm on Mondays) and the Level 5 Advanced Professional Diploma in Counselling (9am-5pm on day TBC), from September 2024. There is also an opportunity to co-teach on our bibliotherapy programme that we run in Partnership with Exeter City of Literature.

The College offers a range of high-quality part-time counselling courses from Level 2 through to Level 5. Beyond the one-day Introduction to Counselling, courses are all co-taught; learners benefit from more one-to-one time and different perspectives on counselling, and our teachers can collaborate and support each other as part of a team.

All courses are quality checked or accredited by the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) who have graded the counselling training provision as ‘Outstanding’.

Exeter College is rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted and in PAL you will be joining a faculty of staff who are passionate about working with local partners and employers to provide people and skills that meets community needs.

To apply for this post please visit our website at www.exe-coll.ac.uk

The closing date for receipt of completed application is midnight on the 3rd March.
