General Information and Introduction to North Leamington School

What is NLS and what does it stand for.....

NLS is a very happy school with high standards and expectations that lead to strong academic outcomes for all its learners. It is a place to be proud of, where every individual is valued for their unique contribution to the school. These successes are recognised and celebrated at every opportunity and every learner thrives.

We firmly believe that we are on our way to becoming an outstanding school in each way possible, including in relation to examination outcome: with performance consistently in the very top percentiles nationally, results have improved year-on-year and reflect tremendous teaching and learning and the concerted contributions of all our stakeholders - above all, of course, those of our fantastic students.

This ongoing success means we continue to be fully-subscribed, sending a very strong message to our local community that NLS is a hugely popular choice for parents and carers: indeed, we feel we are increasingly the institution of first-choice in the local area.  That said, we understand the value of collaboration and are an outward-facing school in the sense that we work with a range of other local schools and services. Our status as an International School and as an Eco School is also of real importance and testimony to how we understand the need not to stand in isolation and to continually strive for ever-greater individual and collective success.

We look forward to working with existing, but also new parents and carers, to continue to build strong, supportive partnerships that continue to move the school forward in such an exciting, successful direction.

We are passionate in our desire that every student at the school has the best possible learning experience, to develop the skills and abilities needed to be successful in life.  We are fortunate to have a school which is a state-of-the-art, non-selective, 11-18 comprehensive school, complete with 21st Century educational and recreational facilities.  We deliver outstanding teaching and learning in this wonderful environment, where students develop the ability to be resilient, resourceful, reflective individuals who work collaboratively to reach their full potential, and who are equipped with the skills, knowledge and qualities needed for success in the rapidly changing world in which they live.

We understand the pressures associated with the demands of the “real world”, as well as those linked to our high academic standards. We care about all of our students and support and challenge them throughout their seven years at the school, so that they feel confident, safe and happy and can use this as a springboard for success. All students have a Tutor Group led by their Form Tutor which is a key part of supporting their personal development. These Tutor Groups are year based so that students receive age appropriate provision.

We encourage everyone to take individual responsibility for the school’s collective success and actively encourage all stakeholders to work together for the benefit of all.

Our students are the future, and we give them opportunities to develop their leadership skills and to act as role models possessing CORE values. This is the message of the school’s Code of Conduct, and is also embedded in our commitment to those World Class Basics which underpin all the academic successes, as well as the more holistic development of the whole person. We enable all our students to become active members of local communities but also positive global citizens of the future.
