Who are athletic trainers?
Athletic trainers (ATs) are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who render service or treatment, under the direction of or in collaboration with a physician, in accordance with their education, training and the state's statutes, rules and regulations. As a part of the health care team, services provided by athletic trainers include primary care, injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergent care, examination and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.
Athletic trainers are sometimes confused with personal trainers. There is, however, a large difference in the education, skillset, job duties and patients of an athletic trainer and a personal trainer. The athletic training academic curriculum and clinical training follows the medical model. Athletic trainers must graduate from an accredited baccalaureate or master’s program, and 70% of ATs have a master’s degree.

About International School of Brussels

Founded in Brussels in 1951, The International School of Brussels (ISB) is a private international school for students from Preschool to Grade 12. Our international student community includes 1300+ students from 60+ different countries, making our campus a culturally rich space that facilitates learning from and with people from all over the world. Set within the beautiful Forêt de Soignes and located just 10 metres away from a UNESCO World Heritage Site, our facilities allow students to benefit from an immersive learning experience, to tailor their learning path to their passions and talents, and to make the school environment a place they are eager to return to every Monday.

Our educational programme is as diverse as our student demographics and is carefully tailored to develop independent learners and international citizens in an environment where all students are included, challenged, and successful.

We focus on fostering future-proof expertise, which is adaptable and transferable. All ISB Graduation pathways – such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, the US High School Diploma, the BTEC programme, or the Advanced Placement (AP) programme – open doors to great future opportunities. With the widest range of IB courses in Belgium and diploma results that consistently surpass global averages, ISB stands out as the country’s leading inclusive IB school.

As school is so much more than the classroom, we believe that enhancing creativity and fostering team spirit is imperative for developing skilled, independent learners, who are equipped to be successful in a working world without borders. Apart from our core academic programme, which is regularly reviewed by mapping and comparing standards from different national systems, ISB offers an extraordinary selection of extracurricular activities in the fields of Arts and Athletics.
