We are looking for a professional, flexible and friendly Attendance administrator to lead and develop on all attendance matters as part of our core administration team in our main offices.

The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge and understanding of implementing and embedding attendance procedures.

You will be co-ordinating, overseeing and setting up robust attendance systems and processes to ensure that children and young people can have full access to the educational opportunities offered at Barking Abbey.

Disseminating and managing attendance administration as part of the wider office team.

Liaising with Heads of Year, Pastoral & Safeguarding lead and SLT to make sure that attendance monitoring, systems and procedures in school positively impact outcomes for students and improve overall attendance.

You will be a main point of contact for the Schools Education Welfare officer and work alongside the Attendance lead on our alternative campus to make sure that there is a whole school consistent approach.

Encouraging, facilitating and, where necessary, enforcing the school attendance procedures of all children of school age, working with the wider family, community and external agencies.

You will be a key member of the general Administration team deputising in the absence of the Office manager and will be expected to undertake general office administration and support as part of your daily role undertaking a range of general administrative tasks as required in school,

As a key member of the school’s core business team you will work to provide an outstanding administrative function that supports teaching and learning across school and provides all stakeholders with an outstanding service.

The successful candidate must have excellent ICT and communication skills, a keen eye for detail in addition to a willingness to provide an outstanding service, they will be able to work to tight deadlines, juggle conflicting demands and still keep smiling.

The successful candidate will also participate in general main office administration duties which includes monitoring the medical room and undertake some first aid duties, therefore a first aid qualification is desirable or a willingness to undergo first aid training.

ICT experience is essential but specific training will be given for specialist school software. Experience of working with young people would be an advantage. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic self-motivated administrator.

• Be a confident and friendly presence around the school.

• Possess good communication skills, with the ability to adjust communication to different age groups and abilities.

• Have the ability to take the initiative and proactively manage tasks to ensure service levels remain high.

• Inspire others implementing new ideas processes and procedures to positively impact and build capacity within the school.

• Work collaboratively and proactively with students and their families to ensure that children and young people can have full access to the educational opportunities offered at Barking Abbey.

This role will be predominantly based at one campus, however there may be a need for work to be undertaken across campus offices.

The core hours of work will be 08.00 to 16.00, although main offices and the switch boards are manned until 17.00 and so shifts will need to be flexible to provide cover

Recruitment process

  • Blind shortlisting by a panel against the Job description. Potential applicants are   scored. Shortlisting by at least 3 people including one SLT.
  • Shortlist for interview based on scores from shortlisting.
  • Interview process will depend on role and may include; lesson observations, data or admin tasks, panel interviews, student panels and a final interview
  • All assessed tasks are scored according to set criteria and scores are moderated   to ensure consistency.
  • All panel interviews and final interviews are scored. Each interview has a   moderation process to ensure consistency of scores where appropriate. Questions are common to all applicants.
  • Feedback is provided by a member of the panel.
