Post:                          Attendance and Admissions Officer 

Location:                  22 Millbay Road, Millbay, Plymouth PL1 3EG

 Salary Range:          Grade D, £20,493 rising to a maximum of £23,080, per annum pro-rata

Actual Salary:           £18,945 to a maximum of £21,336 per annum 

Hours/Contract:      Permanent, term-time, 41 weeks per year, 37 hours per 

                                      week, Monday to Friday 08:15 to 16:15

The Role

Millbay Academy is an all through primary to secondary school and is looking to recruit an experienced Attendance and Admissions Officer to join our team. 

This important role includes contributing to improving school attendance and improving persistent absence, supporting students and families, building and maintaining positive relationships and administering school admissions. Responsibilities include; investigating absences, making assessments and plans for return, keeping clear and concise records, producing data reports and working with outside agencies such as the Education Welfare Officer and County Council for admissions.

The Person

This is a great opportunity for an organised, confident and dedicated person with strong communication skills and a positive can-do attitude.   We are looking for people who have the following experience and qualities: 

  • NVQ Level 3 or 4 or equivalent qualification or experience 
  • Good knowledge and experience of school’s systems and an understanding of the issues affecting truancy and non-School attendance 
  • Strong communication skills to exchange information with a range of audiences and professionals (e.g. staff, students, parents and other agencies) 
  • Experience of use of IT systems such as Microsoft Office and databases to compile data reports with the ability to analyse data 
  • Ability to work as part of a team and also unsupervised and to manage workloads and tight deadlines to deliver results effectively in a pressurised environment. 
  • A flexible approach to the delivery of the role meeting all personal, educational and operational needs
