Our school is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Attendance and Admissions Officer.

The successful candidate will be a strong team player and be able to engage effectively with both pupils and staff.

The main purpose of the role will be to promote the welfare of all pupils and ensure that this is supported by parents and carers fulfilling their duties in accordance with school attendance legislation;

To support the school in developing strategies to improve attendance and reduce persistent absence and to work with other agencies and stakeholders to achieve this goal.

Applicants must have a minimum qualification of GCSE A* - C English and Maths or equivalent.

School Organisation

St. Elizabeth School is attractively sited in Bonner Road, close to Victoria Park.

It is a two-form entry school with a Nursery attached. The Nursery currently offers a mixture of part time and full time places and the school is looking to expand on its fulltime provision.

There are 2 Reception Classes [ages 4 to 5], 4 Key Stage 1 classes [ages 5 to 7] and 8 Key Stage 2 Classes [ages 7 to 11]. All classes are mixed ability with a gender balance, as far as possible. The maximum number of children per class is 30 and the standard number per year group is 60.

The Governing Body

The Governing Body has an entitlement to 14 members, as follows:-

  • 8 Foundation Governors appointed by the Bishop
  • 1 LEA Governors appointed by Tower Hamlets
  • 3 Parent Governors elected by the parents of the school
  • 2 staff governors [inc. Headteacher]

Duties of the Governors:

These are:-

  • helping to establish [with the Head Teacher] the aims and policies of the school and how the standards of education can be improved.
  • deciding the conduct of the school, how in general terms it should be run.
  • helping to draw up [with the head and staff] the School Improvement Plan.
  • helping to decide how to spend the school’s budget.
  • making sure that the National Curriculum and Religious Education are taught.
  • selecting the Headteacher.
  • appointing staff.
  • acting as a link between the local community and the school
  • ensuring the school has a self-evaluation form in place
  • drawing up the action plan after an OFSTED inspection and monitoring how the plan is put into progress.
