Salary: £34,927 - £37,536 (SCP 33-34) per annum actual salary

Start Date: As soon as possible

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: Term Time only plus 2 weeks (41 Weeks) – 37 Hours

(open to applications from those wishing to work part time)

About the Attendance team

The Attendance department is part of a thriving school community where attendance is on a positive upward trajectory year on year, driven by our core beliefs to Aspire, Work Hard, and Be Kind. This collaborative team works seamlessly across the school, engaging with staff and students to further improve attendance figures. Each team member takes ownership of a specific year group's attendance, providing targeted support and building strong relationships to ensure every student has the best possible opportunity to succeed.

About You:

As an Attendance Improvement Manager at The Bulwell Academy, you will lead a dedicated and friendly team of five, all passionate about fostering a strong sense of belonging for every student, which we know is key to excellent attendance. You will bring a compassionate and proactive approach to supporting students’ well-being, fostering a positive and inclusive school environment, and collaborating with staff and external agencies to address students’ diverse needs. Our ideal candidate would:

  • Provide overall leadership and oversight of the attendance policy, ensuring it is effectively implemented across the school.
  • Together with the Senior Champion; plan and implement a graduated response to attendance support at The Bulwell Academy.
  • Monitor attendance data and progress, and report to the school governing body, Creative Education Board and relevant stakeholders
  • Plan and implement targeted strategies and interventions to rapidly improve the attendance of identified groups of children and to move them up through the attendance bandings
  • Work effectively as part of a team, use initiative, follow instructions, remain calm under pressure, and possess a ‘can do’ and ‘will do’ attitude.

 

 

Requirements:

To apply for the Attendance Improvement Manager opportunity, you must hold:

  • Maths and English GCSE to Grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
  • Evidence of continued professional development and expectation of continuing willingness to develop own professional skills.
  • Extensive experience of working within school attendance
  • Experience of working with young people and families
