Job overview
Required as soon as possible for 30 hours per week, term time only.
The successful candidate will:
- perform functions traditionally undertaken by an Education Welfare Officer. The post holder will perform functions previously provided by the local authority and will involve liaising with Academy staff and undertaking home visits in order to challenge absence and improve attendance - engaging with parents to ensure that they fulfil their legal responsibilities.
- improve attendance through a partnership with colleagues, parents and students, ensuring that the importance of good attendance is prominent and that students are challenged appropriately.
- have the ability to motivate and support disaffected students and communicate effectively with parents/carers and other agencies. Ideally, you will have had some experience working with secondary age children and hold a social work qualification.
