Fixed Term Contract until 31 August 2022

The Role

A key focus for the Academy is student attendance and we currently have a temporary position available to assist our existing team with the implementation, development and evaluation of our attendance strategy.  The role will specifically involve working with both students and parents to ensure they are aware of MHA expectations and procedures in relation to attendance and punctuality.  The post holder will therefore support form tutors to monitor and manage attendance. They will use data to identify students whose attendance is becoming a cause for concern, and then assist with instigating early intervention for these identified students, involving the creation and implementation of effective action plans, to manage and improve attendance moving forward.

What we are looking for

We are seeking a confident communicator, who are able to form positive relationships with pupils, their families and work colleagues.  Previous experience of working with students of this age range and their families is a must, along with successful experience of creating, monitoring and evaluating action plans.  Creative skills to seek alternative ways to support our students, and excellent organisation and administrative skills are all prerequisites of the job.  Applicants must also have a driving licence and use of their own vehicle in order to undertake home visits, when required.

As a member of the Academy’s Student Support Team you will support our students to achieve their challenging targets. This is an exciting opportunity to work as a member of a highly committed and talented team where collaboration and team work are essential.  We are looking for enthusiastic, committed, staff who will go the extra mile.

The School

Manchester Health Academy opened in September 2009 and is sponsored by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. In September 2010 the Academy moved into a £20 million state-of-the-art building and to accommodate a growing student population we have recently completed a further £10 million expansion project. Our vision is to combine education and health in transforming the futures of our young people and we are on the journey to becoming the provider of choice in a secondary setting and the hub of our local community.

Why work for us?

In return we will promise you a stimulating, supportive and rewarding working environment, where all staff are valued and encouraged to take a leading role in the development of the Academy vision and strategy. You will also have the opportunity to access a range of excellent professional opportunities to support your progression.

Additional benefits include:

• Local Government Pension Scheme

• Free parking

• Free use of the community gym facilities

• Cycle to Work Scheme

• Short commute to the city centre with excellent tram links on the doorstep of the Academy
