We currently have the following vacancy at Wey Valley Academy, Dorchester Road, Weymouth, DT3 5AN:
Post: Attendance Officer
Post details: Part time/Job share/17 hours per week (Weds pm/Thurs/Fri) Term time only, Fixed Term 6 month Contract
Salary Scale: Grade 4 pts 6-9 Pro-rata Salary: £7,682 - £8,152 Full-Time Equivalent Salary: £19,698 - £20,903
At Wey Valley Academy we are committed to providing stimulating, challenging, and engaging learning experiences for our students. The staff are passionate about developing students as lifelong learners and providing them with a broad range of skills and experiences. We want to create confident, resilient and well-rounded adults who have an aspiration for self-improvement and are able to compete equally with their peers in a world beyond school life.
Receiving a good full-time education provides children with the best possible start in life. Attending school regularly and punctually is essential if children are to make the most of the opportunities available to them. Government research suggests that 17 missed school days a year = 1 GCSE grade DROP in achievement. The role of Attendance Officer is pivotal in ensuring attendance procedures are adhered to in line with the Academy’s attendance strategy.
The successful candidate will work as part of the attendance team in a job share role. They will be responsible for: - the maintenance of the manual pupil registers and the transfer of data to the academy computer as necessary using appropriate software packages; undertaking telephone calls to check pupil attendance; monitoring punctuality and attendance rates; liaising with parents and Education Welfare Service in order to complete attendance returns and analysis of “at risk” groups; issuing standardised correspondence to parents in relation to pupil absence.
In order to be successful in this role you will:
- be enthusiastic, motivated, focused, professional and resilient
- be able to work successfully as part of a team
- have strong administrative and I.T skills
- be highly organised and able to work under pressure
- promote the vision and values of Ambitions Academies Trust and Wey Valley Academy
We are looking for candidates who are passionate and ambitious with a drive and commitment to improve the life chances of our young people. You will have a dynamic, exceptional and creative approach to improving the teaching and learning in a way that benefits all children.
