Job overview

Vision for Education are currently recruiting for an autism instructor or learning mentor, experience with children on the autism spectrum is essential for a small autism specialist school in Oldham.

You will need to be confident in planning and delivering daily Maths and literacy lessons with a small cohort of children working at a primary level.

The School specialises in provision for children with autism and brings a new approach to autism education. They focus on the core difficulties that lie at the heart of autism. These include problems with rigid thinking, managing uncertainty and change, social interaction and understanding and managing emotions.

The school believes social and emotional development of children with autism is just as important as academic achievement. The school believes academic achievement without appropriate social and emotional development leaves autistic children with a poor quality of life, as well as poor life chances. Our starting point is to mirror the developmental steps that children have missed during infancy in order that they have a second chance to develop their ability to:

  • Share experience
  • Take different perspectives and think flexibly
  • Collaborate
  • Cope with setbacks and challenges
  • Solve problems creatively

Whilst working with Vision for Education our staff have full accessibility to our CPD courses.  Team teach; Mental Health awareness; Child protection and Safeguarding; Autism awareness; Plus many more.

The role will commence in September 2017 and pay rates begin at £75 per day (dependent upon experience) with the view to become a permanent member of staff.
