Job overview

Autism Resource Base – Teacher required with Mathematics specialism.

MPS/UPS - + 1 SEN point

Do you know how to get the best out of students? We are seeking to appoint a reflective and committed teacher to join our successful Autism Resource Base from September 2024.

The Autism Resource Base (ARB) at Bitterne Park School is an established specialist provision whose aims are to meet the academic potential of its students, to develop their individual social and communication skills, whilst supporting environmental, sensory and anxiety difficulties and any associated challenging behaviours.

The ARB’s core values of ‘Respect, Engage and Achieve’ permeate all aspects of everyday life in the provision.

We are looking for an experienced, secondary mainstream Mathematics teacher who would like to specialise in teaching small groups (maximum 10) of students who are on the spectrum. The ability to think creatively and to manage and engage a range of student needs in the provision, in a stimulating and challenging way, is essential.

Bitterne Park School is committed to supporting your professional development and career aspirations. We are proud to have recently received a bronze Teacher Development Trust award for our CPD programme and offer a menu of opportunities whatever the stage of your career.

As the lead school for the Bitterne Park Teacher Training Alliance, we offer our staff access to an excellent ECT programme, a broad range of high-quality training and the opportunity to work in various capacities with colleagues from our partner schools.

We are committed to pedagogical coaching as the most effective way of developing our classroom practice and this is available to any member of staff wishing to opt into this element of our CPD programme.

We actively encourage and support staff to undertake the full range of NPQ qualifications and would welcome applications from candidates who are interested in this development route. Further information on these can be found here : NPQs For You - LLSE

In addition, Bitterne Park School offers:

  • A commitment to staff wellbeing. We have a dedicated Staff Wellbeing Coordinator
  • A cycle to work scheme
  •  Employee Assistance Programme
  • Staff membership of our fitness suite
  • Free on-site parking
  • Access to a wealth of CPD, such as The National College
  • Laptops provided for all teaching colleagues

If you excel at enabling the learning of students, we would be delighted to receive your application.

For further information and details of how to apply, please visit our website: www.bitterneparkschool.org.uk

Closing date:         17th April 2024 - noon

In line with Department for Education guidance, Keeping Children Safe in Education, we are required to carry out an online search on all shortlisted candidates. Should any concerns be identified, they will be discussed with you at interview.

Bitterne Park School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks, along with other relevant employment checks. We are an equal opportunities employer.

Closing date disclaimer: We reserve the right to close a vacancy earlier than the advertised date if we receive applications that meet the criteria. Once a vacancy has closed, we are unable to consider further applications, so please submit your application as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
