Hours/Contract: Full-time, Permanent. 1.0 FTE. 

      

The Role:  We are looking for a suitably experienced and capable member of staff to lead lessons across the academy, working within our LOTC department.


Purpose:

To plan, prepare and teach LOTC activities and to deliver Duke of Edinburgh bronze and silver awards, the John Muir award and St John’s first aid as well as AQA relevant LOTC awards and using the academy’s autism guidelines


Skills:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to raise aspirations of students and inspire them to work towards shared goals

• Ability to effectively organise and prioritise workload 

• Ability to self-evaluate and commitment to own professional development

• Ability to learn from experience

• Strong written and oral skills

• Good ICT Skills

• Ability to inspire and have empathy in challenging outdoor environments

• Have the relevant qualifications and experience working with children in the outdoors


Other:

• Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team 

• Commitment to the safety and welfare of all people

• Commitment to extracurricular activities in PE and whole school

• Willingness and ability to attend meetings/events outside normal school day

• Excellent attendance record

• Strong support from referees

About The Springfields Academy

The Springfields Academy aims to be the leading school for autistic learners within the South West. We are based at a well-equipped and spacious site in Calne, North Wiltshire. We are Ofsted rated 'Good' (March 2022) and hold Advanced Accreditation with The National Autistic Society (June 2022). Over 95% of our current cohort have a diagnosis of Autism. All students have the potential to access a primary/secondary curriculum and we support them to do so.

This is an exciting time to join Springfields as we grow from 210 young people on roll to 250 in September 2024. Coinciding with this is the launch of a brand new classroom block, ensuring our learners and staff have access to the resources they need. 

Our mission is to build safe, independent lives for our young people. We are an acknowledged centre of excellence for Autism; we are highly reflective in our practices, and are continually working to improve our provision and practices. We provide a personalised curriculum journey that enables leaners with a diagnosis of autism to develop skills in areas of need and to overcome their barriers to learning. Reach South is a young and developing Trust which operates across the South West of England with the aim of delivering all through 3-19 education.
