We are relentless in our pursuit of the very best for all our students. We understand challenges but do not accept them as limitations.
Welling School is an all ability, co-educational 11-18 school, located in the London borough of Bexley. As well as serving our local community we welcome students from a diverse range of backgrounds and areas. Each of them bringing their own part to make up the Welling School Community. We are an ambitious school on a transformational journey to excellence and are always looking for excellent potential colleagues to come and help us achieve the very best for our students.
See our website for further information about the school www.wellingschool-tkat.org
The Role:
We are looking to appoint an inspirational and dynamic colleague to join our team of committed and dedicated professionals who will do whatever it takes to help our young people achieve great things - beyond expectations.
As a Behaviour Intervention Assistant you will be working in our on-site intervention provision with students who need additional support to engage with their learning and who need support and guidance in learning how and when to make good decisions about their responses and learning behaviour.
The Berwick Centre is a place where students spend short amounts of time when they most need individual support and guidance. It acts as an internal facility whereby students are out of general circulation and receive intervention before they go back into the main school and to their usual lessons.
We are looking for an individual with the ability to build strong, supportive and effective relationships with pupils, staff and parents. Someone who can create a variety of strategies to support and mentor pupils to re-engage them with their learning.
We believe all adults are role models and this role will be no different. Working with students from across the full age and ability range, this high profile, extremely rewarding role requires a calm, professional approach with high levels of emotional intelligence, energy and drive.
You will forge profitable and trusting relationships with students that inspire confidence and work hard to understand their individuality and help resolve barriers to their achievement - making a real difference to our students and our community. No two days will ever be the same - although they will always be rewarding and exciting.
Your previous experience in an educational setting is less important to us than your experience of working with young people and your ability to understand their perceptions and individuality. We are keen to hear from interested colleagues from a variety of relevant backgrounds. Because you have a calm, personable and patient manner and because you are consistent, persistent and interested in them you will know why that is.
Above all our new colleague will have an unstinting belief that every young person, whatever their starting point or circumstances, can make and sustain exceptional progress and that our purpose is to change lives.
You will have access to on-going development opportunities and the support of a forward thinking, successful multi-academy trust. You will be joining a team of strong and experienced staff who will do whatever it takes to help you to succeed in your new and exciting role.
As well as having a passion for young people and their futures our colleague will:
- be an approachable warm professional with the ability to foster excellent relationships
- be resilient and determined with excellent attention to detail
- have a high level of emotional intelligence wand the ability to understand people and their own contexts
- bring an unwavering commitment to doing whatever it takes
- have the ability to engage and inspire others
- be a resourceful problem solver
- To be tenacious and well organised with good time management
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly ambitious team of staff and make a real impact on our students’ lives.
