RESPONSIBILITIES (Key areas of responsibility):

As a member of the student success team, the behavior interventionist:

  • Designs and implements learning and behavioral interventions, collaborates with teachers, and develops Individual Behavior Plans (IBP) for students with complex needs.
  • Leads the Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) process and supports teachers in implementing IBPs and individualized interventions.
  • Provides short-term support to students, offers feedback to staff, and regularly assesses student needs.
  • Collaborates with Psychometricians and Psychologists to incorporate assessment results into IBPs and consults with parents to enhance student performance.
  • Facilitates parent engagement sessions and may serve as a primary case manager for students.
  • Maintains accurate student records, tracks service recipients, and evaluates intervention success using metrics.

The behavior interventionist also fosters relationships with external providers and meets external requirements, such as CPE obligations.

  • Additionally, as a leader of learning, the behavior interventionist designs professional development opportunities, provides guidance to staff, and advises on professional development needs.



REQUIREMENTS (Job/Person):

Required Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working as a behavioral interventionist or special education teacher.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with children who have identified behavioral and/or learning difficulties.

Preferred:

  • Teaching Certification from an accredited educational institution (or related/equivalent professional area)
  • Current Special Education Teaching and/or certification in related professional area
  • Verifiable training in conducting FBAs and writing BSPs and other intensive intervention approaches
  • Knowledge and experience providing social-emotional/behavioral support within an MTSS/RtI Model
  • Instructional Coaching
