BEHAVIOUR MANAGER

 Manchester Mesivta is excited to offer the role of Behaviour Manager within our rapidly growing Jewish boy’s school. By joining Manchester Mesivta you will be working within a centre that boasts small class sizes, exceptional results and performance, and a positive work/life balance. As our school runs religious learning alongside the national curriculum, the successful candidate will find themselves with a start of 11.00am and a finish of 5.40pm.  

JOB PURPOSE: To contribute to the development of a strong, effective school with an emphasis on promoting a culture of educational excellence, within a caring and secure environment enriched with the values of discipline, mutual care and respect which extends beyond the school into the wider community.  

Interviews will take place 11th - 13th August.

 JOB SUMMARY

 1. Secure the highest standards of behaviour in the school by supporting the implementation of Behaviour Policy by leading and managing the Impact Room.

 2. Support the improvement of pupil punctuality, attendance and behaviour and assist the school in reducing disruption and raising pupil achievement and progress. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

 1. Strategic Development 1.1. Under the direction of the Senior Leadership Team, the post holder will be accountable for the leadership and management of the Impact Room.

2. The Impact Room Manager will be responsible for the effective leadership and management of the Impact Room. They will be based in the Impact Room full-time and will ensure the following:

 a. Pupils work in silence for the duration of their time in the Impact Room.

 b. Pupils comply with the Impact Centre curriculum so that no learning time is lost.

 c. That the entrance and exit of pupils to the Impact Room is well-managed with a clear rationale recorded for their referral including potential next steps (re-integration back into lessons, exclusion, screening for unmet need, referral to the Senco, etc).

 d. Work produced by pupils is of a high quality.

 e. The writing of a Personal Support Plan (PSP) meets the needs of a pupil with repeat  referrals to the Impact Centre.

f. Staff complete a restorative justice conversation with the referred pupil before their return to class to avoid future referrals.

 g. Effective systems are in place to stop repeat referrals to the Impact Room.

h. Pupils who are in the Impact Room for a second day are escorted there.

 i. Pupils are escorted off-site in an orderly manner at the end of the school day.

 j. Pupils receive supervised breaks and lunch.

 k. There is strong communication with parents/carers and staff to avoid future referrals.

 l. A daily update of referrals is provided to SLT detailing individual pupil behaviours.

 m. A weekly update referral is provided for review and analysis at Senior Leadership Team (SLT) meetings.

n. Staff receive weekly feedback around the reasons for referrals and strategies to address emerging patterns.

o. Systems for registering the pupils, informing parents/carers and ensuring all the administration including the tracking, assessments and logs are completed in a timely manner.

p. Effective communication with the staff on duty supports the operational management of the Impact Centre.

 

RELATIONSHIPS AND PARTNERSHIPS

3a. Develop strong relationships and effective working arrangements with school staff.

  b. Work with individual staff who require support with behaviour management.

 c. Establish effective partnerships with relevant professional organisations.

ACCOUNTABILITY

4a. Be accountable for behaviour and outcomes for pupils during their time in the Impact Centre.

b. Report findings of the Impact Centre on a regular basis and as required to the Senior Leadership Team.

Located in Prestwich, Greater Manchester, Manchester Mesivta School is an Orthodox Jewish secondary school for boys. A voluntary-aided school, it was originally founded as an independent fee-paying school, but in 2004 became state-aided. The school has 204 pupils aged 11-18, making it much smaller than the average secondary school. The school moved onto its current site in 2005, and as a result can boast of a wide range of teaching and recreational facilities, including modern classrooms, as well as a number of extra-curricular activities.

Manchester Mesivta School provides both a faith-based and secular education for its students. The school follows two programmes of learning. A high level of Religious Education in the mornings and a wide range of secular education in accordance with the national curriculum in the afternoons.
