Abbeyfield School is a vibrant, inclusive community where every student is supported to develop the skills, confidence and experiences needed to succeed in the wider world. Under the leadership of Principal Henry Gowney-Hedges, the school is driven by a clear commitment to excellence, high expectations and strong values.

As part of Creative Education Trust (CET), Abbeyfield School is guided by a shared set of values and a collective ambition to transform lives through education. These values - creativity, collaboration, courage and excellence - are embedded throughout teaching, learning and leadership. They underpin a school culture where students are supported to think creatively, work together effectively, take positive risks and strive for their personal best.

Our ethos is rooted in our core values of Ambition, Respect and Kindness (ARK), which underpin all aspects of school life. We are ambitious for every student, supporting them on a rich learning journey from Year 7 through to Year 13, with the aim of achieving their very best academic outcomes. An increasingly bespoke curriculum ensures that individual needs are met, enabling students to flourish both academically and pastorally.

Through teamwork and a shared desire to support and challenge every student to achieve their personal best, we are proudly building on our 2021 Ofsted ‘Good’ judgement and the very pleasing recent outcomes achieved by our students.

As a specialist Performing Arts college, Abbeyfield offers exceptional enrichment opportunities. Students benefit from access to a professional theatre, two dance studios, a sports centre, gymnasium and a fully equipped fitness suite. These facilities support a wide range of opportunities, from high-quality productions - such as the recent outstanding performance of Sister Act - to excellent sporting provision through access to the onsite Goals facility.

Mutual respect is a cornerstone of our community. Clear expectations, strong routines and a carefully structured pastoral programme promote positive behaviour, collaborative problem-solving and effective de-escalation, ensuring that all students feel safe, supported and able to make sustained progress.

Kindness sits at the heart of Abbeyfield School. We recognise the challenges young people face today and place a strong emphasis on wellbeing, positive relationships and social responsibility. Students are encouraged to be kind to themselves and others, act as positive active bystanders and understand the impact of their choices - both in school and beyond, including online.

Abbeyfield School has high standards for all members of its community while remaining fully inclusive. We expect students to be punctual, smartly presented, ready to learn and proud to represent their school. With the right support and guidance, students are empowered to meet these expectations and make the most of their time with us.
