Job overview

The Bulwell Academy is an 11-18 academy serving families in and around the Bulwell area of Nottingham. We are part of a family of schools that make up the Creative Education Trust and are on an exciting journey to raise standards and ensure we do all that is needed to help the young people we serve to succeed. They deserve an exemplary education and we’re committed to delivering it. Here at The Bulwell Academy, we want the absolute best for every student, and we believe this is best delivered via the highest expectations of each and every one of our school community members, alongside a growth mindset approach, encouraging all students to aim high and never stop believing in themselves and what they can achieve. This is made possible through our knowledge rich curriculum offer, our CET Knowledge Connected Programme, our clear and concise Behaviour for Learning Policy and our Attitude to Learning Rewards Programme.

We are seeking to appoint a Behaviour Mentor to support the behavioural and emotional needs of students in order to remove barriers to learning. This will include supporting the RESET Manager in the running of our Internal Exclusion Provision (RESET) for students needing a different working environment for a period of time to regulate their attitude to learning or their behaviours, providing support and advice to enable students to make sound choices about their own behaviour and promoting and reinforcing self-esteem. The postholder will plan and deliver one-to-one and small group interventions as required and work with the RESET Manager and Year Manager team to ensure the needs of students are met for them to re-engage fully with learning in a mainstream context.

We are looking for candidates with experience of working with young people in an educational setting and a knowledge and understanding of how to engage challenging students, supporting them to remove personal barriers preventing their learning. This role is pivotal in teaching students to take responsibility for their decisions and actions and helping them to change their mindset and make better choices so they can access their education successfully. The ideal candidate will be committed to improving the life chances of students and hold a genuine belief that all children are capable of academic success.

As an employee of the Creative Education Trust, you will benefit from a highly competitive career package which includes:

• High quality professional development

• Regular training to develop your skills and knowledge

• A tailored induction programme to meet your needs and ongoing support from an experienced and skilled team

In addition to the opportunities for training and development, we also offer a competitive rewards and benefits package, which includes access to:

• The Perkbox platform that brings employee benefits, discounts, wellbeing, and staff recognition

• Access to an Employee Assistance Scheme provided by Health Assured

• Bike2Work Scheme - where you can save up to 42% on the cost of bicycles and/or equipment

Closing date: Tuesday 29 November at 9am

Creative Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to undertake relevant safeguarding checks.

Aspire. Work Hard. Be Kind.

The Bulwell Academy is proud of its heritage yet is firmly placed in the 21st century.  We aim to provide an education tailored around each of our students to ensure they are ready to progress towards their future as successful 21st century citizens.

Our sponsors, the Creative Education Trust (CET), provide a clear framework for developing creativity within our student group and deeper learning through ‘knowledge connected’ by introducing the values of creativity and design to enrich learning at every stage.  The support of CET partnered with our constant pursuit of excellence creates a wonderful learning environment.

The building has been designed to provide a nurturing environment to stimulate young minds, through light and open classrooms, quieter independent learning areas and state-of-art learning and sporting facilities.

The Academy is committed to nurturing the potential future economic and personal success of our students.  This focuses us on our key role in growing academic achievement, strengthening the emotional intelligence of our students and developing employability skills.

  • We have three simple messages to our children:  we want them to aspire, work hard and be kind.
  • We believe: every child can achieve greatness, fulfil their dreams, and live happy, successful lives.
  • We have an unwavering determination to achieve the highest standards of education, pastoral support and safeguarding, providing our students with every opportunity to succeed.

Our insistence on exemplary student behaviour provides strong foundations upon which all can thrive; staff and students alike. Disruption-free classrooms set the stage for excellent, enjoyable and purposeful learning.  But success is not just confined to classrooms. It is forged in theatres, on pitches, tracks, courts, in galleries and beyond.

It is our mission to discover and unleash the potential of every child. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch via enquiries@bulwellacademy.org.uk should you have any questions or concerns.
