College Hall Pupil Referral Unit is part of Bracknell Forest LEA’s provision for pupils, who are out of school. Consequently, it serves pupils from both semi-rural and urban areas and a range of backgrounds. Most pupils, however are from the more deprived wards.

Most students placed at College Hall have been permanently excluded from mainstream schools. However, it is also possible for pupils to be referred for fixed periods of approximately two terms by mainstream schools. Seventy-five per cent of students are in Key Stage 4.

The majority of pupils at College Hall PRU have identified needs in the area of social, emotional and behavioural development at School Action or School Action Plus. A proportion of them have statements of special educational needs. Many students also have associated learning difficulties and although College Hall caters for the full range of ability, the majority of pupils are assessed as being in the average to below average range.

College Hall aims to provide its students with a broad and balanced curriculum, which matches, as far as is possible, the curriculum offered in mainstream schools. A key aim of the Pupil Referral Unit is to equip students in Key Stage 4 with the knowledge and skills to enable them to progress into appropriate Post-16 provision.
