Who we are looking for?
Ideally we are looking for a Behaviour Support Worker. Whilst experience within an SEMH/SEN specialist provision would be desirable we will consider applications from those who are currently working in a mainstream setting. Further training and development will be provided for the successful candidate in line with the identified needs of the school, the skills of the individual and their prospective career progression.
Key Accountabilities:
- Assist in the implementation and management of a range of policies and practices, including social inclusion, care and control and the school’s generic behaviour system
- Identify, assess and address poor behaviour – using a range of strategies and techniques to de-escalate negative behaviour
- Return pupils to programme and aid them settling back into classroom
- Conduct regular patrols of the classrooms and identify both positive and negative behaviours.
- Assist in the recording and organisation of the daily behaviour recording (day sheet, behavioural slips, breaks etc.)
Essential Criteria:
- Willingness to work as part of a team
- Will be flexible and organised
- Have a good standard of literacy and numeracy
- Willingness to obtain and/or enhance qualifications and training for development in the post
- DBS cleared and satisfactory references
- Understanding of the wide ranging needs of pupils with SEN and of the strategies required to meet them
