We are looking for a Pupil Support Manager to join our team at Reddish Hall School. The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation and review of the behavioural policy and the operational procedures establish within it. The ideal candidate will have experience working with pupils presenting challenging behaviour

Reddish Hall is an independent SEMH school situated in Stockport. The aim of the school is to encourage children to achieve and succeed personally, academically, socially and develop their self confidence that will enable them to cope in everyday situations and manage the transition from school to college or work environments. By rebuilding self-esteem and forging positive relationships, our pupils replace failure with success.

Reddish Hall School is part of the Acorn Care and Education Group, the second largest private sector provider of special needs education in the country operating 19 schools for children and young people who have a range of social, emotional and mental health needs and also pupils who have been diagnosed with autism or demonstrate behaviours associated with autism.


About the role

Reporting to the Headteacher you will be responsible for monitoring the social, emotional and behavioural development of pupils within the school, seeking guidance where necessary. The Pupil Support Manager will work with the Senior Leadership Team to develop effective programmes for improving the social, emotional and behavioural wellbeing of our pupils. This may include working with pupils on an individual basis to provide intensive support.

The successful candidate will use rewards systems to promote pupil achievement and liaise with parents to ensure continuity of support and provide positive feedback. You will be responsible for integrating behaviour improvement techniques into learning programmes and review short term targets and Individual Behaviour Plans.


Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone who has experience working within a SEN environment and has strong knowledge of positive approaches to behaviour management. The ideal candidate will be open to new ideas and have the ability to advise on behaviour management techniques. Experience developing bespoke behaviour management programmes is desirable but not essential.


Responsibilities

To oversea the school’s detention system, including controlling which pupils will be placed on detention

To use a range of strategies and techniques to de-escalate negative behaviour throughout the school

Design, implement and review Positive Handling Plans for pupils with specific or extreme management needs

Produce behavioural reports and information for annual reviews and pupil meetings


Essential and Desirable Criteria

Understanding of children with complex needs

Ability to handle difficult situations with sensitivity, confidentiality and discretion at all times

Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding

Evidence of the ability to self-organise, prioritise tasks and time management

Experience of Restrictive Physical Intervention Techniques

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
