Job overview

Ace Education Manchester is an alternative provision and mentoring service in Manchester City Centre. Operating across our two sites behind Manchester Deansgate, we are approved providers of alternative provision to the local authorities of Manchester, Trafford, Stockport, Rochdale and Tameside.

We are looking to add to our growing team of dedicated staff and to appoint a Behaviour Support Mentor.

The ideal candidate would have a passion for working with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and students with SEN or SEMH needs.

Hours: 8.30 - 14.30. Monday to Friday.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Deliver one to one academic and pastoral support to support learners to be able to access the curriculum and achieve their expected outcomes
  • Work as part of a team to deliver interventions that meet the needs of individuals who face barriers in accessing mainstream education
  • Support learners in their development and take an active role in their wellbeing through 1 to 1 work and offsite trips
  • Provide assistance to teachers in class by responding to pupils’ needs, adapting to scenarios within the classroom and enabling the teacher to deliver their lesson
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with students and act as a role model
  • Contribute to the day to day running of the centre
  • Take an active role in promoting the welfare and safeguarding of the children at Ace Education Manchester


The ideal candidate would have:

  • A full UK drivers’ licence with business insurance
  • Experience working with young people with SEN or SEMH needs
  • Have a passion for supporting pupils with complex needs
  • The ability to communicate effectively, foster strong relationships and de-escalate challenging behaviour
  • Have a strong understanding of safeguarding practices and procedures


This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
