Job overview

The Bi-borough Children’s Services for The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster City Council is seeking to appoint a skilled and experienced education professional to join its School Standards Team as a Principal Lead Adviser and to work with its high achieving schools across both boroughs.

Along with contributing to the wider strategic Children’s Services’ priority of achieving the best outcomes for children and young people, this role will also have a specific responsibility for working with education partners to address barriers to the progression of vulnerable children and young people, as well as supporting access for all to the highest quality secondary education provision.

Central to your duties for this role will be:

  • Making an effective contribution to the planning, implementation and continuous monitoring of the Education Service’s key strategic priorities and objectives for raising the achievement of all children and young people and promoting inclusive practice.
  • Working with schools, local alternative education settings and services to support strong learning pathways for vulnerable young people, including ensuring that effective action is being taken to improve attendance, prevent exclusions and young people being out of education.
  • Supporting partnership working with the senior secondary school leaders and the local teaching schools, to help all young people access the highest quality education provision.

For this post we are looking for someone with a commitment to supporting the best outcomes for young people and who can demonstrate the difference they have already made to education achievement, particularly for the most vulnerable. With a teaching background, you will have had successful senior leadership experience in a secondary school or setting and a thorough and up to date knowledge of educational developments and best practice. You will also need to be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in partnership with schools, local authority colleagues and local stakeholders.
