Bilingual Primary Teacher (Chinese & Math) Immediate Start

SUIS Shangyin International Primary Campus is located in the Minhang District of Shanghai, China. We can be found using Google Maps at 185 Long Ming Lu. Our building is a school within a school, with an International Campus of 700 students in Grades K-5. Our campus is also home to about 920 domestic Chinese students, but we share a common bond in seeking to understand the many diverse cultures of the world. Although we are a large school, we have the feel of a small community school. We pride ourselves in our warm, caring philosophy, where all members of the community – students, teachers, and parents – are learning, growing and participating in the educational process.

We are a learning-focused school, with a mission is to facilitate an ‘East Meets West’ approach to education that prepares young people for the challenges of a modern, global society.

The International Stream follows the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), together with the Shanghai Math and Chinese Curriculums. The IPC was introduced in 2015, and we are in the final stages of gaining accreditation for this.

Our school is currently seeking applications from qualified applicants for the 2021-22 School Year. The Classroom Teacher must hold a valid teaching certificate.  Applicants must possess excellent interpersonal skills, be willing to work within an East meets West philosophy, be well-organized, computer literate, and student-centred. Applicants should ideally be currently located in China.

Vacancies

Chinese Primary  Teacher - Candidates must be able to work in any area of primary, K-5 (UK Yr. 1 - 6).

The position will include, but not be limited to:

o Effective classroom management skills, including meeting with parents as needed

o Daily supervision of students

o Attendance at weekly meetings with whole staff and Grade -Coordinators

o Report Card Production

o Understanding of Assessment & Evaluation

o Teaching of Mandarin & Maths (In English)

o Co-teaching/support of Math and IPC with a Western teacher

o ECA – willing to teach an extra skill or talent one block per week in addition to regular class teaching

Experience in an international school will be an asset.
