Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable GCSE and A-Level Biology teacher who has a keen interest in teaching Marine Sciences. As a Biology teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive lessons to students at the secondary school level, primarily focusing on GCSE and A-Level Biology. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to incorporate marine science concepts and topics into your teaching, fostering a deeper understanding of the marine environment among students.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality lessons in GCSE and A-Level Biology, ensuring adherence to the curriculum guidelines and learning objectives.
  • Create a stimulating and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation, critical thinking, and independent learning.
  • Incorporate marine science topics and case studies into the biology curriculum, providing students with a broader understanding of the subject and its relevance to the marine sciences.
  • Prepare and deliver practical laboratory experiments, ensuring students gain hands-on experience and develop essential scientific skills.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Monitor and track student performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing appropriate interventions to support individual learning needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and coordinate cross-curricular activities and projects related to marine sciences, promoting interdisciplinary learning.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements and research in biology and marine sciences, incorporating relevant findings into teaching materials and approaches.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting respect, diversity, and equal opportunities for all students.
  • Engage in professional development activities, attending workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance subject knowledge and teaching methodologies.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Biology, Marine Biology, or a related field. (PGCE strongly desirable)
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the GCSE and A-Level Biology curriculum.
  • Passion for marine sciences and a deep understanding of marine ecosystems, biodiversity, conservation, and related areas.
  • Previous experience teaching GCSE and/or A-Level Biology is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students of varying abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and deliver engaging and interactive lessons, incorporating a range of teaching strategies and resources.
  • Proficiency in utilizing technology and educational software to enhance teaching and learning experiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to stay updated with advancements in biology and marine sciences.
