An opportunity is now available for a Biology Technician to join our Science Department.
The successful candidate will be required to support the Biology teaching staff by providing all the necessary resources required for practical experiments, which will typically involve working with plants, biological organisms and chemicals. This will include setting up and clearing away practical equipment and maintaining all the resources in the department.
The successful applicant should possess a science degree or higher qualification and/or technical experience. Ideally skills and knowledge will be in the field of Biology. You will be organised and methodical in your approach, with the ability to multi-task and fulfil requirements at short notice. You will be cheerful, team focused and well presented.
A knowledge of health and safety, CLEAPSS and COSHH regulations will be essential along with experience of setting up equipment and co-ordinating practical risk assessments. Competent IT and administration skills are required.
The position would suit an individual who enjoys, and has experience of, working within a professional laboratory/classroom environment. The role will involve some lifting and manual handling of apparatus. Practical knowledge of setting up and maintaining equipment is essential.
