Department: Boarding and Pastoral
Responsible to: PA to Senior Leadership Team
Hours: 8:30 – 17:00 Mon-Fri with occasional evening or weekend hours as per the needs of the college events
Holiday: 25 days annual leave per year plus all Public holidays, to be taken at times convenient to the college. Holiday restrictions apply from the third week in August to the end of September and the first week of every term.
Remuneration: £18,000 – 20,000 per annum

The principle duties of the Pastoral Assistant will be to provide Personal Assistant support to the Vice Principal Pastoral and the Director of Boarding, and to provide administrative support for the delivery of school events, and to provide support for the wider Pastoral Team through administration and coordination of the pastoral provision.
Duties
- Support for PA to Vice Principal Pastoral and Director of Boarding; including letters, templates, proofing, minutes of meetings, bookings, diary management
- Support for Housemasters and Heads of House as required
- Support student Induction process
- To assist the reception manager in the smooth running of the College Reception as required
- Communication with students when directed
- Develop and maintain pastoral displays around the school
- Support for administration of student behaviour and discipline
- Manage Student Voice, including creating of surveys and collation of results
- Co-ordinate meetings and required catering as directed by PA to Senior Leadership Team
- IT support for pastoral meetings and assemblies
- Support all school events, including liaising with venues and suppliers
- Liaising with external providers – academic mentors/sports coaches/catering etc
- Meeting and greeting visitors at all levels of seniority
- Ordering for pastoral and boarding team and responsibility for updating the budget spreadsheet
- Support the PA to the Senior Leadership Team in delivering high quality pastoral and boarding support
- Any other administrative duties as and when required

Educated to A-level standard or equivalent
ICT experience, specifically with Microsoft Office

Checks and Training
• Enhanced DBS checks to ascertain successful candidates suitability to work with children will be carried out. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and therefore all convictions, cautions and bindovers, including those regarded as ‘spent’ must be declared.
• Online searches will be carried out on candidates for any unsuitable content by or about candidates.
• Two written & verbal references from previous employers and a personal reference will be sought. Referees will be asked about candidates suitability to work with children and whether they know of any disciplinary offences relating to children or young persons and whether candidates have been the subject of any child protection allegations or concerns and if so the outcome of any enquiry or disciplinary procedure.
• Candidates full employment history will be checked, any significant gaps will require explanation and proof of any relevant qualifications will need to be provided.
• Successful candidates will be required to complete Child Protection Training via e-learning prior to commencing employment.
• Pre-employment health screening will also be carried out.
