We are seeking to appoint a Boarding House Resident Tutor to start as soon as possible. This position is 19 hours a week which will be worked as evening and weekend duties during term time. 

 

The successful candidate will be expected to be resident during term time and contribute to the whole life of the school. Free accommodation is available as part of this position and located at Durham School Site.

 

Boarding is thriving within the Durham Cathedral Schools Foundation, with boarders being accommodated across three Boarding Houses on the Durham School site. School House and Poole House for boys aged 11-18 and Pimlico House for girls aged 11-18. Barrington House located on The Chorister School site accommodates the Choristers aged 7 to 13.

 

The successful applicant should be a confident and proactive team player who is able to take the initiative and interact easily with our children in both the Boarding House and the School. This person needs to be flexible in approach and be a caring, fun-loving person who enjoys working with young people.

 

The Resident Tutor will be expected to show leadership qualities, to be a role model to pupils and to develop appropriate relationships with both staff and students. They should have an excellent command of English and a good level of literacy and numeracy. It will be expected that the successful applicants will live on site during term time and fully embrace all aspects of school life.
