Job overview

Boarding Houseparent(s)/Housemaster/Housemistress

Sandroyd is a leading independent, co-educational prep school for day and boarding pupils aged from 2-13 years. Sandroyd is renowned for its academic excellence, feeding the top public schools nationally. We fully value and support our healthy number of day pupils, but the vast majority of Sandroyd pupils board at the school, especially in years 6 - 8.

We are looking for a motivated Houseparent or a couple to live in and look after our mixed junior boarding house.  Ideally, one of the couple would be a fully qualified teacher and would offer an academic subject and/or be willing to coach sport.  A willingness to care for and nurture the children and reinforce the school’s family boarding ethos is most important.

Working alongside other House staff, you will be responsible for the smooth running of the House and the pastoral welfare of approx. 50 year 3–6 girls and boys. You will ideally have previous experience of a similar role, possess excellent communication and organisational skills and have the ability to remain calm under pressure.

The successful candidate will be expected to play a full part in the life of our busy boarding school which is located in 68 acres of parkland on the Wiltshire/Dorset boarder in between Salisbury and Blandford.

Living on site during term time is a requirement of the job, and a three bedroomed flat is provided alongside a competitive remuneration package.

Closing date: Friday 10th March 2017 (Midday)

Interviews: 14th March 2017

Sandroyd School is a co-educational preparatory school for both day and boarding pupils aged 2-13. It is located in 60 acres of fields, woods, and parkland near the village of Tollard Royal in Wiltshire. The pupil roll is around 230.

Sandroyd Pre-Prep was purpose-built in 2004 in the original walled garden and is home to boys and girls aged 2-7.

Sandroyd School takes its name from Sandroyd House, the home of the Reverend L H Wellesley Wesle, in Cobham, Surrey. In 1888, he created a small coaching establishment for the sons of his friends who were due to go to Eton. Over the years, the school grew rapidly, changing its premises to its current location Rushmore House. The school is a charitable trust and is administered by its board of governors.
