Job overview

St Michael's Church of England Primary School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and flexible Breakfast Club Assistant to support children during our breakfast club provision and ensure they have the best start to their day.

Salary: £11.59 per hour (£22,367 pro rata per annum). Contract: Fixed term (until end of term 2024). Working Hours: Part-time (7.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 38 weeks, no Teacher Training Days). Required: ASAP.

We are an open and inclusive primary school, educating children between the ages of 5 and 11 years. Located in the garrison town of Larkhill, Wiltshire, our school aims to spark interest, ignite a passion for learning and fire up ambition to inspire every child to recognise and exceed expectations. Our staff provide a challenging, yet nurturing, environment based on our Christian values and we are committed to learning outside the classroom, as much as inside; with regular trips planned and visitors invited in to help make the learning relevant and linked to both our local community and the wider world. In May 2022, we joined Acorn Education Trust, which has provided exciting opportunities to improve local education and draw on collective experience.

Responsible for supervising and assisting children during breakfast club, you will support other members of staff to ensure that our school breakfast period runs smoothly while ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all children at all times. The role will also involve clearing tables/sweeping floors and occasional washing up.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and are able to work with a variety of pupils, staff and parents;
  • Has superb attention to detail and organisational skills;
  • Is self-motivated dedicated and consistent;
  • Has the ability to deal with new challenging situations;
  • Is a strong team player who can use their own initiative;
  • Has a positive and flexible attitude;
  • Has First Aid training, or is willing to complete it;
  • Enjoys working with children;
  • Is happy to assist with general cleaning and maintenance duties.

We can offer the successful candidate:

  • An ambitious and vibrant place to work, with enthusiastic children and staff who are passionate about learning;
  • A workplace where everyone feels valued and supported;
  • Opportunities for training and progression;
  • The support of Acorn Education Trust, with excellent opportunities to work with experienced colleagues;
  • A supportive and clearly defined induction procedure.
