Historic Ripon may be the third smallest city in Britain, but its home to one of the country’s best performing academies. In our January 2016 Ofsted inspection, we were judged outstanding in all areas. Ofsted recognised that ‘Outstanding teaching is at the root of students’ excellent achievement’ and ‘the excellent behaviour of students contributes to an outstanding climate for learning’. Outwood Academy Ripon places students at the centre of everything it does, with a focus on creating a culture of success, a positive climate for learning, and increased student attainment, achievement and social and emotional development.

The Bridge is the Social and Pastoral Inclusion Centre within Outwood Academy Ripon. The Bridge manager supports and promotes the learning and welfare of vulnerable students and those who experience barriers to learning. As such we are keen to recruit dedicated and ambitious individuals who will add value to our Academy in both academic terms and through involvement in the fabric of learning and success beyond the classroom.

You will be extremely well organised, IT literate and have excellent communication skills both written and verbal. You will act as gatekeeper to The Bridge promoting the learning and welfare of students by providing practical and learning support to students, including those with special educational requirements. It is essential that you have the ability to respect and maintain confidentially at all times; establish a supportive relationship with the children concerned and deal with immediate issues or emergencies according to the Academy’s policies and procedures. You will be first aid and managing medicines trained through the Academy as well as other relevant courses to ensure you have the tools to be successful in this post. Driving may be required as part of this role. 

In line with the Government’s announcement, our academy is closed until further notice. However, we are still busily planning ahead for the forthcoming academic year and are excited about welcoming new recruits to come and join us. In place of academy based interviews, we have set up systems to ensure that alternative options are still available via skype/video conferencing wherever possible. Every effort will be made to try and accommodate any specific requirements so that no-one is at a disadvantage.
