There are two posts available = 1.4 FTE.  39 weeks per year, term time only .

Oak Lodge is a mixed maintained regional special day and residential school in the London Borough of Wandsworth.  It is located near to Wandsworth, Clapham Common and Balham stations.  

Oak Lodge School provides education for pupils aged 10 to 19 from 32 local authorities. The provision is for students : 

• Who are D/deaf

• Who have speech, language and communication needs (SLCN)

(The term D/deaf is used throughout education and research to describe students who are Deaf (British Sign Language users) and deaf (who are hard of hearing and tend to communicate more orally).

Oak Lodge school follows a student-centred multi-modal approach to communication. You will have the opportunity to work in a vibrant and innovative learning community which promotes the highest standards and is at the forefront of special education. 

We are an inclusive school where every student and member of staff is valued highly. Pupils are enthusiastic and friendly and enjoy a varied academic and vocational curriculum.

As a BSL teacher you will have a varied but rewarding role within the School which will include: 

• Teaching students in small groups or 1:1 to develop their vocabulary, language and communication skills. 

• Liaising with other teaching staff, parents, therapy team and outside professionals.

• Observing and providing feedback on individual student’s progress.

These positions would be suitable for individuals who enjoy helping students achieve their full potential. The roles can be challenging at times but are also very rewarding.
