Job overview

Bursar

Grade 10 (points 27-31 currently £31346 - £34728)

Due to the expansion of our school, we are seeking to appoint a high quality Bursar to join our team.

Elemore Hall is a well established and thriving Durham LA maintained, residential and day special school. In September 2021 we will be expanding to become a three site provision, offering a total of 186 places in school and Alternative Provision settings for secondary aged pupils who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Many of our pupils have additional general or specific learning difficulties. We are committed to providing academic, social and residential education of the highest quality in partnership with pupils, governors, parents, carers, the LA, health and other agencies.

As Bursar you will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team of the school. You will be responsible for oversight of finance and the leadership of the administrative, domestic and catering teams across the three sites. This is a newly created role within the structure of the school and will be an excellent next step for someone who has been a Business Manager in a smaller school, a senior administrator in a school or similar.  It is essential that potential candidates have knowledge of working in a school environment and with systems in use in schools such as SIMs and Pulse/Juniper. As the role involves working over three sites it is essential that applicants are able to drive (mileage is payable).

Support will be available from the Head of Support Services and the Headteacher of the school plus appropriate Local Authority officers.

There is so much to say about the school and the vacancy that potential candidates are strongly encouraged to visit or telephone the Head of Support Services or Headteacher for further information. All applications must be made on the standard application form, this, along with further details about the school and the post, is obtainable by contacting the school on 0191 372 0275 or from the school website   www.elemorehallschool.com

Following Safer Recruitment guidelines, only candidates who achieve enhanced DBS clearance, pass a health check and have at least two supportive references (including their most recent employer) will be eligible for employment.

This post is not open to job share.

Closing date:  5.00pm on Wednesday 19th May 2021

Interviews will be held week beginning Monday 24th May 2021
