St Mary’s Calne is a member of both the GSA and the HMC and is a leader in the field of girls’ independent boarding education. It has over 350 girls aged 11-18, including 100+ girls in the Sixth Form. In addition to the Senior School, The Bursary also looks after St Margaret’s Preparatory School, an independent day preparatory school for boys and girls aged 3-11, and the schools’ Sport Centre which is also open to the local community.
The Bursar is responsible to the Headmistresses and to the Governors of both St Mary's Calne and St Margaret's Preparatory School, for the management of the finances, administration and property of the schools and is also Clerk to the Governors. The successful applicant will have the ability to build productive working relationships with the Senior Leadership team and with all members of the School community, and be able to demonstrate empathy with and commitment to the ethos of the schools.
Candidates should have a strong background in finance and/or commerce, human resources management, health and safety and risk management, project management and information technology.
The successful applicant will be a strategic thinker with an ability to see both the bigger picture and the finer details needed to achieve agreed goals. He or she will need to be energetic and enthusiastic about realising the ambitious vision for the Schools and the best possible outcomes for the pupils and staff.
