Pay Range – Local Managerial Grade 1 point 6-8 (£40,905 – 43,397)

Chailey is a thriving, successful school set in rural Sussex within easy reach of Lewes, Haywards Heath and Brighton.  We are proud of our traditional values and innovative approaches to Teaching and Learning.  Staff are friendly, dedicated and supportive; our students are happy and proud to be part of the school. Chailey is a school where staff and students can thrive.

Chailey School is seeking to appoint to this critical role which has arisen as a result of the retirement of our current Business Manager.

We value ‘kindness’ in everyone and endeavour to give all of our students a broad and rich education with many opportunities for extra-curricular experiences. Our student body are lovely.

The school has just moved into a brand new main building (March 2021) and we are in the process of updating our Sports Hall internally. Of course, not all of our estate is so modern, but we have worked very hard over the last 5 years at providing our students with the very best infrastructure we can, including IT.

Our Senior Leadership Team are friendly and hands-on. We are not a school where leaders sit in offices all day and we are not afraid to muck in on tasks.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and skilled professional who will be responsible for:

• Managing the school finances and health and safety, and

• Overseeing facilities management and the administrative functions of the school.

• Maintaining appropriate financial systems and controls to ensure the school complies with all regulatory requirements

• Ensuring that financial information is both accurate and readily available to support financial decision making processes.

The role includes an extensive range of responsibilities that will require a broad set of skills, relevant qualifications, enthusiasm, and resilience.

The successful candidate will also be a valued member of the Senior Leadership Team and will interact with a wide variety of stakeholders (staff, governors, parents and students, contractors, and other advisors).

We strongly encourage potential applicants to visit us. Please call Gemma Butler, PA to the Head Teacher, on 01273 890407.

A full application pack is available from the school c/o office@chaileyschool.org

Please note that recruitment packs for this vacancy will only be provided directly to an individual considering applying to our school for this opportunity.  This school does not enter into business with Recruitment Agencies, or other commercial organisations, on behalf of their clients seeking employment.

Closing date for applications: noon 20th April 2021.

We will be interviewing shortlisted candidates in the week commencing 26th April 2021.

Chailey School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check is required for all successful applicants. The governors positively welcome applications from all sections of the community.
