We want to appoint a Business Manager to lead support services at the Blue Coat School, which is an outstanding and vibrant high achieving hugely oversubscribed 11-18 co-educational Church of England school. Blue Coat is one of three schools in the Cranmer Education Trust, a mature school trust founded in 2015.

The Business Manager is a new post and the role is strategic, varied and demanding. You will work closely with the Headteacher, as well as the executive leadership team of the Cranmer Education Trust, to lead and support Blue Coat in its next stage of development and ensure that the operations, improvement and development of Blue Coat are aligned across the organisation, particularly in relation to support services.

In the next three years The Cranmer Education Trust will open a new secondary free school in Oldham, and in the early years of the school, the Business Manager will lead and develop the business team for the new school.

The person we are looking for is an enabler, an integral part of the school’s senior leadership and the eyes, ears and lever of the school. The Business Manager will be a very visible member of the Senior Leadership Team, who is accessible, a good communicator, who models the values of the school and the Trust, and who is respected.

The specialist background of the person we appoint is less important than the ability to work across the services, and to get to grips quickly with the brief, to get people working well and effectively, and above all to be pro-active to ensure that the quality of the business service is always improving because it understands and pre-empts the needs of the school.

We offer:

• Opportunities for professional development in a growing Trust

• LGPS career average pension scheme including life insurance and dependent's pension

• Generous sick pay scheme, increasing with length of service

• Employee assistance programme

• The opportunity to work for a values-based employer

Blue Coat is located close to Oldham town centre location with motorway networks, buses and trams close by. Oldham a good place to live and work.  There is a wide range of housing which compared to city costs is very affordable.  We provide free car parking on site and we are equidistant from the heart of Manchester (with nearby Metro station) and the Peak District.  There are lovely villages and metropolitan living within reach.

This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.

Full details and application form are available via the 'Apply' button.

Closing date for applications: Monday 20 January 2020 at 1 pm

Interviews: Thursday 30th and Friday 31st January.

The Cranmer Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

About The Blue Coat CofE School

Welcome to The Blue Coat School

Mission statement:  Faith – Vision – Nurture

Welcome to The Blue Coat School website, which we hope will give you a really good insight into our school, and show how our young people are learning how to become everything they can be, and are meant to be.  You will find all the information about student achievement and progress across the curriculum, and links to national performance data and reports, so you can see how well our young people do, and why we are very proud of our academic record.  Just as important, you’ll also find, in the newsletters especially, a picture of life in a dynamic community where students grow in confidence, independence, leadership and resilience, not only in their lessons, but in the breadth of Blue Coat’s provision.  I hope you will also see how the school’s Christian ethos shines through, and that all our young people, of all faiths and denominations, learn to grow together in love, compassion, generosity of spirit, and mutual respect.  If you are an education professional, or would like to join this great profession, you’ll also find links to our work as a National Teaching School and lead school of The Northern Alliance and our work on system leadership, school-to-school support, research and development, and training the best teachers through the School Direct programme.  We look forward to meeting you.

Mr R Higgins

Headteacher
