Job overview
Business Manager for East London Teaching School Hub and Mulberry College of Teaching (based at Mulberry School for Girls)
Our organisation:
We change lives by providing the highest quality teacher development opportunities
Mulberry School for Girls was designated by the Department for Education as the lead school for Hackney and Tower Hamlets Teaching School Hub (TSH) in February 2021. We are called East London Teaching School Hub.
Teaching School Hubs have the following core responsibilities:
- Delivery of Initial Teacher Training (ITT)
- Delivery of the Early Career Framework (ECF)
- Providing Appropriate Body (AB) services for Early Career Teachers
- Delivery of the full suite of National Professional Qualifications (NPQs)
Since 2021, ELTSH has embarked upon an exciting start-up and rapid growth phase, and we have worked hard to create a successful collegiate professional learning community that meets the specific needs of teachers in our region. To date, we have supported over 1400 Early Career Teachers and their mentors training on the UCL Early Career Framework Provider-led Programme and over 900 teachers and leaders on our UCL National Professional Qualification programmes. We have teachers and leaders from 88% of Tower Hamlets and Hackney schools learning with us and colleagues from a further 238 schools outside our designated region engaging with our programmes. We are working in partnership with strategic local partners to deliver our ECF Lead Provider Programme and have over thirty facilitators from a range of local schools collaborating with us on our programmes. We are the Appropriate Body for over 530 ECTs. The way we work is underpinned by our principles of collegiality, inclusion and transparency.
Mulberry College of Teaching (MCoT) is the Mulberry Schools Trust’s accredited Initial Teacher Training provision. We are deliberately small and specialise in secondary English teacher training. Our aim is to offer a route into teaching to graduates who share our commitment to inclusive education and who want to learn their craft in our vibrant inner-city schools. We welcomed our first cohort of trainee teachers in September 2024 and many of them have already secured their first teaching posts in East London schools.

About Mulberry School for Girls
A message from the CEO, Dr Vanessa Ogden
Mulberry School for Girls is a high achieving, over-subscribed and successful girls’ comprehensive school for pupils aged 11 to 18. It is a place where girls’ talents and abilities are nurtured in a safe creative space and where they can develop their ambitions and the power for self-determination. Our aim is that all pupils should leave the school as highly qualified, confident and articulate young women with a wealth of experience in the wider world. Outstanding academic achievement is very important for future success, as is the need to develop ‘Confidence, Creativity, Leadership’ and a life-long ‘Love of Learning’. We believe these things will enable our pupils to lead enriched, happy and fulfilled lives, making a contribution to their own community, to British society and to global well-being.
Mulberry is an inclusive school with a wealth of multi-agency support employed by us to support pupils and their families. Provision for special educational needs is excellent. There is an outstanding enrichment programme which includes Global Classrooms, women’s education conferences, Girl Guides, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the Mulberry Theatre Company. Mulberry’s arts education programme is well-known in London and we count the National Theatre, the British Film Institute, the Donmar Warehouse, the Royal Court Theatre and Southbank Centre amongst our valued partners. There is also a strong family provision with a range of events, classes and courses for parents. We hope you will come and visit.
