About us

At Essex County Council, what we do impacts the lives of over 1.4 million residents. We need to take decisions based on high-quality insights and be disciplined in the way we track our progress and performance. Our Performance & Business Intelligence team helps us do this and so much more.

About you

As a Business Partner focused on Performance and Intelligence, you will work alongside our Education function putting in place the tools to help senior leaders understand their progress and performance against strategic priorities. You will provide insights to help them understand their business, the outcomes achieved by pupils across different populations, cohorts and communities and the factors that influence the success of the local education system. You will provide constructive challenge and to help inform both strategic and operational decisions.

You’ll lead a team of analysts, performance officers and data developers, making sure that high-quality reporting and analysis inspires the best conversations, the right decisions and the most productive action. You will be responsible for the provision of effective data and will be an advocate for the use of evidence in decision-making.

This is a new team and getting it up and running successfully is incredibly important. To be an influential voice, you’ll bring a significant track record of providing high quality insight with impact in a large, complex organisation.

In return, you can look forward to an excellent rewards package, as well as flexible working and long-term career opportunities.
