Mt Maria College is seeking a suitably qualified Campus Minister for four to five days per week, for a long service leave replacement. The Campus Ministry role is a diverse position across a 7-12 setting in a BCE College, working in partnership with our local Catholic Parishes. The Campus Minister works as a member of a team that provides faith, spiritual and pastoral support to students. The role is designed to contribute to the religious life of the school community, to develop students' understanding of their faith which is contextually relevant, and a source of meaning for them. In achieving this, empower young people to utilise their gifts and talents and to live their faith in a variety of settings including school, parish, wider Church and local community. The successful applicant will support the rich Religious Life of the College with the guidance of the Assistant Principal (Mission & Identity) and will have a strong focus on youth ministry. The Campus Minister will provide social justice opportunities, facilitate prayer gatherings, work with the Music and Drama Ministry Team and Alpha programs. The role of Campus Minister at Mt Maria College is instrumental in the Pastoral work across Middle and Senior School students and their families and will work closely with our Pastoral Leaders and College Counsellors. The role holder will Integrate formation experiences for students into classes, House Groups, Camps and Retreats. Participate in the design development and facilitation of programs that support the Youth Ministry plan at the College, assist and organise facilitate Masses and Youth gatherings. This is a Part -Time Leave replacement position for 6 weeks in Term 3. Ideally the successful applicant would be available during the last week of term 2. Duties • Promote student prayer life within the College • Assist with the organisation and promotion of Mass and Liturgy and celebration days • Help in the organisation of Retreats • Work with APMI and Pastoral Leaders to integrate formation activities in RE classes Camps and House Groups • Formation activities after school and during lunch times • Social justice awareness and fund raising for MAPS, SVDP, Caritas, Catholic Mission • Working with student Pilgrims going on the Immersion programs • Taking students to both BCE and Marist formation events in Brisbane. • Meeting regularly with the APMI

Total Paid Hours (per wk) & Days Required:   30-38 hours per week during normal working hours Monday to Friday.

Mt Maria College is a co-educational Catholic secondary school, founded in the Marist traditions. The school is in Mitchelton, Queensland, a suburb of Brisbane, and serves students in Years 7-12.

The school was founded in 1987 and currently has 340 students. They pride themselves on having a small learning environment which creates more individualised and personal support to students from caring staff, as well as their modern facilities and expansive vocational training centre.

Technology is important to both staff ad students, with laptops provided for students in Years 9-12, and all students having access to laptops and iPads through the technology centre. 

Curriculum

The school’s curriculum is based on key learning areas, which are religious education, English, mathematics, science, social science, health, business information technology, visual and performing arts, technology, and vocational training. A wide range of vocational qualifications are available, including engineering pathways, hospitality, digital media, and sport and recreation.

Popular extra-curricular activities include drama and instrumental music, as well as sports, which include swimming, cross country, rugby, basketball, tennis, and cricket.
