Canteen Lunchtime Assistant / Kitchen Assistant

Salary: £16,070 - £18,514 per annum (pro rata) [TCES Salary Band 8]

Location: East Acton, W3 (TCES North West London Independent School)

Hours: Permanent; 20.5 hours per week; Term Time Only

We are seeking an individual with previous experience of a working kitchen, basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene, and the understanding of the importance that food plays in the health, wellbeing and outcomes of young people, especially those with neurodiversity. You will provide support within the kitchen - food preparation, set up, clean down; as well as in the lunch hall - serving, information on allergies, clean down.

The Complete Education Solution (TCES)

TCES is an independent social enterprise providing specialist education based in London, supporting exceptional neurodiverse children and young people aged 7 to 19 who have special educational needs and disabilities typically associated with autism, social emotional and mental health needs and associated disorders. Most of them will have experienced multiple placement breakdowns and significant trauma, often resulting in behaviour that challenges. On average pupils will have been excluded from other provisions up to three times before reaching us and had significant periods out of education.

TCES pupils learn at one of our two schools, at our Create Learning Primary site in Barking, through our Create in the Community service or within our Home Learning service. Our Create in the Community and Create Learning Primary services support our most complex and vulnerable pupils, with our schools: TCES East London and TCES North West London supporting those who are able to access learning within a school environment. When they are ready, we aim for pupils to step down from Create into one of our main schools, our Sixth Form, or into a mainstream provision.

TCES North West London Independent School is an Ofsted Good rated day school specialising in Leadership and the Arts, with all pupils encouraged to find and express their creativity and supported to achieve awards alongside traditional subjects. We believe they will become successful members of society through the knowledge, values and thinking skills learnt in the classroom and school environment.

Essential requirements to be successful in the role are: 

• Experience of supporting in a working kitchen or catering environment.
• GCSEs, at least Grade C or level 4 (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics. 
• Understanding the requirement of Food Hygiene and the Food Standards Agency.
• Resilient, committed and a hard worker - able to keep going in the face of adversity and never giving up. 
• High standard of customer service; able to provide a calm and authoritative manner.
