Description St Bede’s High School, Chisholm is seeking a permanent full time Canteen Supervisor working 38 hours/week to join the school community commencing in Term 1, 2022.

St Bede’s Catholic College, in the recently established suburb of Chisholm, is a new co-educational Catholic secondary school that is part of the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle. The College opened in 2018 and will eventually cater for 1,100 students in Years 7 to 12. In 2022 the College will have approximately 700 Year 7-11 students, with the first Year 12 cohort to graduate in 2023.

The new canteen facility has state of the art food preparation facilities including Hot/Cold buffet display units, espresso coffee machine and integrated cloud based point of sale systems.
Position Requirements The position of Canteen Supervisor will be responsible for managing the day to day operations of the canteen: supervising volunteers; pricing menu items; managing and rotating stock including preparation of monthly stocktakes; placing supplier orders on a daily basis; reconciliation and bank takings on a daily basis; maintaining equipment and ensuring high levels of hygiene and safety are adhered to at all times.

You will also ensure that the canteen service and operations comply with Food Handling regulations. The successful candidate will be willing to share new ideas, have an ability to maintain a cooperative working environment and provide a friendly, customer focused service to students and staff within our school community.
Essential Criteria • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and to actively supporting the Catholic ethos and culture of the school;

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with school staff, volunteers and members of the wider community;

• Demonstrated knowledge of Healthy Canteens strategies and Food Safety Standards;

• Demonstrated ability to provide a safe, nutritious and viable food service;

• Demonstrated ability to train and supervise volunteers and make rosters;

• Demonstrated experience in food service operations such as ordering, purchasing, stock control, storage and wastage;

• Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage financial activities like budgets, pricing costing and banking procedures;

• High level of communication and interpersonal skills in relating to students, parents and teachers;

• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate or willingness to undertake the course within the appointment;

• Current Paid Working with Children Check (WWCC)number.
